This class offers a short introduction to macrobiotics and a quick overview of the components of a healthy diet, including:

  • What is macrobiotics
  • Macrobiotic diet guidelines and common elements of other beneficial diets
  • Quality and quantity of food
  • Energetics and thermal quality of foods and cooking styles
  • Acid and alkaline theory
  • Yin, yang and 5-elements
  • Developing a personal practice ... and more
  • Will will also prepare a basic macrobiotic menu of: miso soup, pressed salad, whole rice, azuki beans, nishimi or roasted vegetables, steamed or blanched leafy greens, seed or nut sauce, gomasio and quick ume or shoyu pickles.
